Summer Communications Intern (Research & Marketing Focus)

Juran Strategies LLC is a strategic communications advisory firm helping leaders and organizations communicate clearly during complexity and change. Our work sits at the intersection of executive communications, organizational change, thought leadership, and reputation.

We are seeking a paid, part-time Summer Intern who is interested in pursuing a career in communications and wants hands-on experience supporting how a communications advisory firm develops its thinking, visibility, and point of view.

​

Working closely with the company’s founder, this role will support internal research, marketing, and business development initiatives that help shape the firm’s ideas, content, and presence. It’s designed for an undergraduate student interested in pursuing a communications career.

What you’ll work on

​

You’ll work on clearly scoped projects and gain exposure to how communications strategy, content, and positioning are developed in practice.

​

Responsibilities may include:

​

Communications research

  • Research companies, industries, executives, and communications trends relevant to the firm’s focus areas

  • Synthesize findings into clear summaries, briefs, or internal reference materials

  • Identify themes, patterns, and insights that inform content and positioning

 

Content & marketing support

  • Support development of thought leadership and marketing content (e.g., blog posts, LinkedIn content, website copy) through research, drafting support, editing, and formatting

  • Help organize and maintain content calendars and source materials

  • Track and summarize basic performance indicators such as engagement or visibility trends

 

Documents, presentations & visuals

  • Format and polish Word documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and professional presentation

  • Support creation and cleanup of PowerPoint slides and simple visual materials

  • Create or refine lightweight graphics using Canva and/or Adobe tools

 

Business development support

  • Research industries, organizations, and potential partnership opportunities

  • Assist with internal positioning materials, capability overviews, and proposal inputs (non-client-facing)

  • Help organize notes, drafts, and reference materials related to growth initiatives

 

General support

  • Keep project files organized and up to date

  • Capture notes and action items from working sessions

  • Support ad hoc tasks that help move internal initiatives forward

Who this role is for

​

Required

  • Rising sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate majoring in communications or a related field

  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area

  • Able to meet in person in Los Altos approximately every two weeks

  • Available to work 8 hours per week for 8 weeks

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT or similar) for research, drafting, or synthesis

  • Experience with Canva and/or Adobe tools

  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with feedback and iteration

  • Must have own laptop

 

Nice to have

  • Interest in corporate, executive, or internal communications

  • Familiarity with LinkedIn as a professional communications platform

  • Experience synthesizing research into clear written outputs

Logistics

  • Pay: $20/hour

  • Location: Remote/SF Bay Area-based with in-person sessions in Los Altos every two weeks

  • Status: Paid, temporary, part-time internship
