The CEO Horizon™ Framework
The CEO Horizon™ Framework is a simple way to map how leaders talk about performance versus possibility. It's based on analysis of hundreds of executive interviews, investor calls, and bylines across industries.
This framework is named for the CEO role, where the stakes are highest, but the dynamics apply to any leader who speaks for a team, a function, or a company, as well as the communications and HR partners, board members, and advisors who help them show up well.
While the audience and topic might change, the strongest leaders know their message needs to be crafted consistently and carefully, balancing performance and possibility. Stronger performance earns the credibility to speak about the future. A clear vision for that future encourages investment today, from customers, investors, and current and prospective employees.
The CEO Horizon framework maps two dynamics: a leader's time horizon, from the present to the future, and their content orientation, from their own organization to the broader industry.
Together these produce four distinct positions: Operational Leader, Expert Commentator, Transformational Strategist, and Visionary. Every leader has a dominant position, regardless of whether they are consciously shaping it.

The CEO Horizon Framework breaks down exactly how to tailor content to the business need, so leaders can be intentional in their content platform and attain return from their communications investment. If you're curious to learn more, explore the resources below.
